Description

Visitors who purchase a ticket to the Gold Museum may access the following exhibition halls:
1.Si Lian Dong (Four Joined Japanese Residences)These Japanese-style dormitories are well-preserved and complete in the Jinguashi area. They are believed to have been built in the 1930s by the manager of the mine, Nippon Mining Company, as residences for Japanese staff and their families. After World War II, the buildings were repurposed as employee housing for the Taiwan Metal Mining Company.

2.Metal Art Studio
According to local elders, this building—formerly known as “No. 55, Jin Guang Road”—once served as a club and restaurant for the Taiwan Metal Mining Company. In its later period, the first floor became a full-service restaurant, while part of the second floor was used as a library, making it a central hub for leisure and dining in Jinguashi. Today, it houses exhibits on traditional gold ornaments, metalwork collections, basic knowledge of metal crafts, and features on Taiwanese metal artists. Through multimedia and interactive displays, visitors gain a deeper understanding of the aesthetics and creativity of Taiwan’s metal craft arts.

3.Alchemy Hall
This building was once used for storing and processing gold. After the museum was established, it was named "Alchemy Hall." Its facade features a unique design with 13-groove faceing bricks, which stands out distinctly against the surrounding wooden dormitories in the Jinguashi settlement.

4.Gaia Hall
Named after Gaia, the Mother Earth figure, this hall symbolizes the richness of mountain resources. The permanent exhibitions highlight how the unique topography of the mines, the interlays between the ecology of the shallow mountains and the mining culture of the North Coast that created the unique spatial depth site. It also explores how mining culture and the environment have interacted to create a distinctive setting. Through multiple macro and micro narrative approaches, the hall demonstrates the deep relationship between the environment and humanity of mining area.

5.Community Learning Hall
Originally used as a dormitory for employees during the Taiwan Metal Mining Company era (1955–1987), this building is situated between the museum and the local community. It now serves as a space for the collections of mining heritage artifacts from the Shui-Jin-Jiou area and promotions of mining culture studies. The hall encourages open to the public for shared learning and knowledge exchange, aimings to preserve and pass on the history and stories of the mining site.

6.Gold Building
Formerly the (mining) office of the Taiwan Metal Mining Company, this building has been renovated for exhibition purposes. The first floor hosts a permanent exhibit themed "A Mountain Town in Golden Light," which combines historical documents, vintage photographs, and mining tunnel models with interactive displays to present a century of mining heritage. The second floor features the immensely popular Giant Gold Brick and a thematic exhibit titled "Treasures of the Earth," showcasing not only the museum’s own mineral collections but also approximately 140 stunning mineral specimens generously loaned by six collectors.
